Hold on for the Good News

The Jesus Chick Art

What if this were your last free Sunday to go to Church?

That question puts Tuesday in perspective. And no, I’m not a conspiracy theorist or a right wing fanatic. I’m Shari Johnson the Jesus Chick, who loves to go into denial and

believe that the world is not full of evil. I much prefer believing the best of everyone. That tomorrow is filled with gumdrops and flowers. But at this stage in the game, I can’t. I hope you’ll read on for a little bit of a reality check, and then keep reading on for hope!

The Rise Against the Church

Following the North Valley Baptist Church being fined over $100,000 for refusing to close their church amid the Corona Virus, they finally caved on September 15, not being able to withstand the continued persecution. Pastor Jack Trieber said that he was “Going to let God fight this battle.”

My heart breaks for Pastors who are trying to do what’s right in a world gone so wrong. I’ll was at Victory Baptist Church Sunday morning, properly distanced from anyone but family. We’ve done the live broadcast when necessary, we encourage those of ill health to stay home, but seeing half of my congregation out for greater than 7 months is heart wrenching, because I know the tole it takes on me to miss one service.

Because of the state of our Nation and the current political climate, I question what part of that California incident was because of the virus and what part was a test on seeing how quickly government could mandate and receive compliance for churches to close. While it certainly caused us to be creative in getting the word out to our people, we cannot deny the effect it had on those (and there are many) without access to preaching. Add to that the fact that social media has began monitoring our posts closely and controlling them to the point where, either no one sees them, or they’ll just flat out ban it and lock you in Social Media jail until you remove it. That’s not conspiracy theory rhetoric, that’s a known fact. They’ve controlled the narrative of this election to the point that if you didn’t search for the information, you didn’t see it. And if you didn’t search on a search engine besides google, the truth evaded you.

If  Biden and Harris are allowed to win on Tuesday, I fully believe what’s happening in California will make it’s way east at an alarmingly fast pace. Their voting records show it, don’t take my word for it. When the riots broke out in the west and north, there were no Democrats calling for arrests because of the lack of social distancing. But the Governor and Mayor of New York were threatening Jews for holding a funeral. Life went beyond ridiculous.

So let’s look at it from God’s perspective by aligning the word up with the way the world is turning.

Prior to Paul’s conversion, in Acts 8:3 it says:

As for Saul, he made havoc of the church, entering into every house, and hailing men and women, committed them to prison.

Within the last two weeks over $150,000 in fines have been levied against houses of worship in New York for violation of COVID-19 restrictions. Andrew Cuomo, Governor of New York called the religious community “super spreaders” and that the church meetings had been a problem for weeks. They are the modern day Saul’s. So you may say, “well no ones being beaten for their religion.”

Tell that to the Jews in New York who have been beaten. And yet it’s not been on the news.

Imagine if there had been social media in biblical days. What if Stephen’s stoning was captured on video, or the Apostles could have texted one another where the danger  ⚠️ was or who’s house the next meeting would be held.  We may not have video, but what we have is the word of God that has been preserved for thousands of years. Paul didn’t sugar coat his part in the story of being the persecutor or the persecutee. But you’ll not get that level of honesty today.

Saul’s and Paul’s are alive and well today, but their tactics have modernized.

Consider the fact that Governor Cuomo of New York has put a mandate on churches and schools in certain COVID hot spots in New York and threatened to withhold funding from those communities that don’t comply. Sounds like a Saul tactic of today.

https://www.wsj.com/articles/gov-cuomo-threatens-to-withhold-funds-from-new-york-city-other-covid-19-hot-spots-11602712580

Its not just New York, it’s Nationwide that government has taken edicts and made them laws without congress. That is very dangerous ground. Especially in light of the fact that a CDC update  says individuals are more likely to survive the coronavirus after contracting it. The health agency says if you have the virus between the ages of 0 to 70, you have a 99% survival rate. And if you’re over 70, the survival rate is nearly 95%.

And why are we locked down? Use individual caution, yes! Destroy our nation from within, no!

Acts 9:1-2 KJV

[1] And Saul, yet breathing out threatenings and slaughter against the disciples of the Lord, went unto the high priest, [2] And desired of him letters to Damascus to the synagogues, that if he found any of this way, whether they were men or women, he might bring them bound unto Jerusalem.

While the examples I gave are Jewish, it is all religions that acknowledge one true Jehovah GOD that are at risk. You’ll note they’ve been no Muslim Mosques in the news.  Scripture doesn’t say that Paul went after any other type of worshipper. Just Christians.

But for hope!

Hebrews 6:18 KJV

[18] That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us:

There is no fake news in Heaven!

And in these scary days we have a strong consolation (comfort) in the Lord Jesus Christ that no man or mandate can take away. The Holy Spirit, God the Father and God the Son have us covered, come what may. It’s in the Word of God that we will find every ounce of hope needed to make a dark day into a glorious day of light! God spoke light into existence, and it took over the darkness.   Well glory to God the same holds true today. It’s not that the darkness still doesn’t exist, but when God speaks it’s gone! And the day will come when it will be gone completely, but until then our hearts can go on singing and praising the One True God, that the world has no control over.

Unless Christ returns today, Tuesday will come and go. The election results may or may not be what we want. But our hope is not in those results anyway. Yes, It’ll be better if Trump wins, but it certainly won’t be without issue. If Biden and Harris win, be not deceived, what’s happening in New York and California will be a drop in the bucket by comparison. Better forewarned than caught off guard. Be ready!!! But never lose Hope! Never lose your “happy.” We win folks. Let’s go along for the ride until the Lord picks us up!

Don’t Miss Out on the Blessing!

chick blessed

If there is one thing (and there are many) that our new Pastor teaches as he preaches, it is that the Word of God in part or in whole is the Word of God and not to be taken out of context. The world today loves to take a piece of God’s Word and twist it to fit their fancy or should I say their agenda. The Word of God offends those who are not right with God, it does not offend those who are but it can hurt like a swift kick in the pants. I say that with confidence. I didn’t say it wouldn’t offend saved people, because there are saved people who are not right with God. I’m sure there have been times that I’ve been one. But I do strive to understand and rightly divide the Word of God. Believing that I will stand before God for every stroke on the keyboard done in His name.

This morning as I sought to see through God’s eyes via a challenge from a man journeying through cancer, I landed in the book of Luke to see what God’s eyes saw. And I was amazed that He saw me.

Luke 6:20-23 ~ And he lifted up his eyes on his disciples, and said, Blessed be ye poor: for yours is the kingdom of God. Blessed are ye that hunger now: for ye shall be filled. Blessed are ye that weep now: for ye shall laugh. Blessed are ye, when men shall hate you, and when they shall separate you from their company, and shall reproach you, and cast out your name as evil, for the Son of man’s sake. Rejoice ye in that day, and leap for joy: for, behold, your reward is great in heaven: for in the like manner did their fathers unto the prophets.

He lifted His eyes on His Disciples

Hey! That’s me. Although I wasn’t there in the multitude that had seen the many miracles He performed, I’m in the multitude who has been the miracle. One that God chose to use in spite of all my imperfections. When Christ lifted His eyes it didn’t say He looked at the crowd, it said His eyes were on His disciples, His fellow servants and friends. And then He ran down the list of why they were blessed.

If you’re poor you’re blessed… because you realize that it’s not a cliché to say that God is everything. Any material possession that we strive to own (and I do) is going to pale in such comparison to the riches that wait for us in glory. I have no idea what musical instruments await me in Heaven, but compared to the ones I long for down here… well… I doubt they’ll compare.

If you’re hungry you’re blessed… I’m always hungry so I must be extra blessed! But God speaks not of food, although He knows it’s tasty; but rather He speaks of the Word of God that so offends the world but fills the soul of the hungry child of God. It can’t be explained it must be experienced. When you read the Word of God it is every bit as satisfying as supper at the end of a long day.

Blessed are they that weep…for ye shall laugh! That’s the Heaven I’m talking about. I cry because I’m sad, happy, blessed and concerned. I wear my tear bag on one sleeve and use the other sleeve to wipe the snot. Oh… I know that’s ugly, but you have no idea how often I cry! So what a wonderful thought that God says I’m blessed because I’m a bawlbaby and that God’s got a thousand corny jokes waiting for us in Heaven. The Pastor will be so pleased!!!!

Blessed are the hated. I don’t think too many people hate me, but it is for certain that I create a level of discomfort with all my Jesus chatter. And Satan and his cronies hate me. But even if they hate me, it’s okay! Because God said when they part company with me… we can dance! Leap for joy He said, that sounds like dancing to me.

Well, I hope I rightly divided the Word. And I hope today finds you blessed for all the right reasons. Father. Son. Holy Ghost. Child of God.

Say “Da” to God

3 Guys

I love watching the reach of my blog. It fascinates me to think that anyone (outside of family and friends) would read what I write, and yet they do! I love that I’m seeing prophecy played out through me, and with the help of technology the Word of God is going across the earth. Whether or not I ever know those who read my blog face to face on earth doesn’t matter, although it’s cool when I do, but if they are a child of God I’ll meet them face to face in Heaven.

I’ve watched over the past few weeks as Canadians and Ukrainians have vied for position in the list of readership. My sister is a missionary to Canada, so I’m tickled that I too am a missionary of sorts in that land sharing the gospel of Christ from my kitchen table or sofa, in West Virginia, USA. But Ukraine was not on my radar until a few weeks ago and then all of a sudden the number of readers increased. A quick Google search of Ukraine lead me to an article on the website of Eastern European Mission seeking to raise funding for Bibles for Ukraine due to the increase in requests of public schools desiring to teach from it. Yes, I said public schools. The word “Da” is yes in Ukraine. They believe that giving the Bible to their children (saying yes to God) will change the future of their country. Imagine that?

2 Corinthians 1:20 ~ For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us.

Faith in God can be summed up in one word, “Yes,” or “Da” if you’re in Ukraine. With that one word you receive all of the promises of God, enough promises to last you through eternity and more than you can ever imagine. God doesn’t ask anything other than for us to say yes to the gift of Salvation through the confession that His Son, Jesus Christ, was born of a virgin, died on the cross, rose again the third day and now intercedes on our behalf when we err in this life. That is far easier for me than believing we “exploded into existence,” especially since the earth and all that is in it bears witness of God, and from a very young child I’ve had pull on my heart toward Him.

If you’re from Ukraine, I’d love to hear how the gospel is making its way into your homes and what Jesus is doing in your life. It’s a shame the progressive nation of the United States digresses away from the Bible in public schools for fear of influencing children, and yet they’re embracing the influence of false religions. It’s not inconceivable that another country could be sending missionaries into our land.

Ukraine, I’m so happy that you are saying “Da” to God. America… the word is yes. Let’s do it and get our nation back on track!

The truth about the lies – Media today

Fixty-six percent (56%) of all voters in a 2013 poll done by http://www.rasmussenreports.com regard the news reported by the media as at least somewhat trustworthy, but that includes just six percent who think it is very trustworthy. Forty-two percent don’t trust the news media with 12% who believe the news it reports is not at all trust worthy.

So what’s real and what’s not?

I was asked last night why I didn’t watch the news. I’m certainly of the 12% who’s jaded by the media’s drive to report news with a political spin, left or right, and the infighting of network staff reminded me too much of churches. I can get opinioned news on the street and as for the fighting it’s readily avaialbe as well. So I turned it off. My husband and coworkers watch the news and if anything is of interest to me generally they bring it up. Or someone in social media gets on a rant about it and I’ll follow it up by an even less trustworthy source, the internet. I do trust my friend Dewey Moede who reports for www.fggam.org, a Christian ministry out of New Mexico and if a major disaster is going on I’ll tune in to a local station, usually WSAZ. For which I received a wonderful email from one my favorite anchors about their relationship with Christ.

I’m not anti media, I’m anti “anti.” The hostility toward views not their own is a real turn off for me and so I turned the off. Their negative views do not change the facts that I know to be true. The Bible reads as a modern day newspaper.

Matthew 24

Vereses 3-5 ~ And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world? And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you. For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.

Have we not seen it?

Verses 7-9 ~ For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places. All these are the beginning of sorrows. Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name’s sake.

It’s reported that greater than 100,000 Christians are killed each year for their faith.

Read on…

Verses 10-14 ~ And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another. And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many. And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold. But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved. And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.

How many churches are across the world preaching false doctrine? Too many to count. How many denominations spend more time fighting with each other than spreading the gospel? Too many! And because of it people choose to believe nothing. But fear not. The truth is there and look how far it’s traveling. Scripture says it would be preached to all the world, and so we see that unfold today.

Read for yourself the entire chapter of 24 in Matthew and study it out and you’ll discover that it reads in great detail the headlines of today’s news.

So the answer as to why I don’t watch news? I do. It’s the Word of God. And it’s coming to life.

Jesus’s words in verse 33 sum it up quite well  ~ So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors.

He’s at the door. I’m not saying when, because the Bible is clear to say that no man knows, it’s also clear to say that we need to be ready. So, are you? Have questions or comments, ask them below or email talk2shari@gmail.com.
